BEVERLY — Architects are altering the plans for a football stadium at the new high school and plan to present the changes on Monday.
"We're looking at other positions for the site and haven't concluded that study yet," said site planner Ben Gary of Mount Vernon Architects.
After hearing concerns from abutters during a public meeting last week, the architects also made some changes to the plans if the stadium stays in its proposed location, including planting more evergreen trees to serve as a buffer between the stadium and Jordan Street, Gary said.
Residents there said the stadium — with stands, a press box, lighting and possibly an artificial turf field — would damage their property values and their sense of privacy and pressed architects to move it. Pointing at a map in the front of the room, they suggested ways to rearrange the other fields at the school in order to fit the stadium somewhere else.
Gary told residents that the architects had already looked at alternative locations, and that's the only place it would fit, but said the company would go back and take another look.
"The design team and administration have looked at these possibilities and is ready to present to you its responses," Superintendent James Hayes wrote in a letter that was mailed to abutters over the weekend.
The design needs to be finalized soon, because it is scheduled to go out to bid for construction in a few weeks, Hayes said.
